Ratosteocalcin,a50aminoacidpeptide,isthemajornoncollagenproteinfoundinratbone.Itcontainsthreegamma-carboxyglutamicacid(GLA)residuesatpositions17,21,and24andis,therefore,alsoknownasboneGLA proteinorBGP.TheexactBIOLOGicalfunctionofosteocalcinisnotknownbutthethreegamma-carboxyglutamicacidresiduesconferonitaverystrongABIlitytobindtohydroxyapatiteandcalcium.
TheRatOsteocalcinELISAKitisatwo-siteenzyme-linkedimmunosorbentassay(ELISA)forthemeasurementofosteocalcininratserum,plasmaorcellculturemedia.Twodifferentgoatpolyclonalantibodiestoratosteocalcinhavebeenpurifiedbyaffinitychromatography.Theantibodywhichrecognizesepitopeswithinthemidregion/C-terminalportionofthepeptideisbiotinylatedforcapture.TheotherantibodywhichrecognizesepitopeswithintheN-terminalregionisconjugatedwiththeenzymehorserADIshperoxidase(HRP)fordetection.
